Technical Manager – Electrical/Electronics

Position overview

We are looking for an experienced and disciplined Technical Manager for electrical and electronic work. You will supervise our technical projects, production, assembly, testing, installation and maintenance.

The position suits retired defence personnel with substantial hands-on experience of electrical or electronic systems. There is no upper age limit. Candidates above 60 are welcome to apply, provided they are medically fit and able to carry out the responsibilities of the role.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and supervise electrical and electronic projects from the first requirement to completion.
• Guide the engineers and technicians who assemble, wire, integrate, test, troubleshoot and install our equipment.
• Review circuit diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, technical drawings, specifications and bills of materials.
• Supervise the development and testing of electronic equipment, control panels, data-acquisition systems, cable harnesses, underwater systems and UAV-related equipment.
• Diagnose faults in electrical and electronic systems and guide the team through the corrective action.
• Set up and apply inspection, testing, calibration and quality-control procedures.
• Make sure all work meets the approved technical specifications, safety requirements and quality standards.
• Coordinate with customers, suppliers, manufacturers and government or defence representatives.
• Help prepare technical proposals, quotations, compliance statements, inspection reports and project documentation.
• Monitor project schedules, material availability, workmanship and technical progress.
• Carry out site visits, installation, commissioning and customer demonstrations when required.
• Train junior engineers and technicians, and set an example of discipline, accountability and good engineering practice.
• Keep proper records of testing, repairs, materials, project progress and customer communication.

Required skills

• Strong practical knowledge of electrical and electronic systems.
• Hands-on experience of installing, testing, maintaining and troubleshooting equipment.
• The ability to work from technical drawings, manuals and specifications.
• Leadership, team management and problem-solving.
• Discipline and dependability, and the ability to work independently.
• Basic computer skills: email, Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Good written and spoken English and Hindi. Marathi is an advantage.
• Experience of working with defence, government or industrial customers is preferred.

Workplace

You will be based at our works in Sus, Pune. The role will sometimes take you to customer locations, defence establishments, supplier facilities and project sites.
