Data acquisition
Design and development of a data acquisition system
A temperature and inertial data logger for UAVs, recording RTD and thermocouple channels at up to 500 samples a second and working down to -40 °C.
The requirement
The problem this answered.
Temperature and motion data from a UAV had to be logged on several channels, fast enough to be useful, in cold that stops most instruments working.
Constraints and operating environment: Airborne, operation down to -40 °C, under 100 g.
Vebix scope
What we did.
We built a temperature and inertial data acquisition system for UAVs. It logs RTD and thermocouple sensors on several channels at a sampling rate you can set, so temperatures can be watched in real time.
A graphical program shows and replays the recorded data. The inertial unit carries IMU, pressure and temperature sensors for assessing flights. The system works down to -40°C, weighs under 100 g and samples at up to 500 times a second.
