The requirement
The problem this answered.
Fuze-height simulation needs an aircraft that can carry the payload, hold its position accurately and be trusted to stay up for the whole trial. That is why it has six motors and not four.
Constraints and operating environment: Defence trials; 10 kg MTOW, ~2 km operating range.
Vebix scope
What we did.
We built a hexacopter for defence work, including fuze-height simulation. Six motors give it more payload capacity than a quadcopter, and it can keep flying if one motor fails.
It is designed for a 10 kg maximum take-off weight, up to 40 minutes in the air and a range of about 2 km. It flies autonomous waypoint routes and has altitude hold, hover stabilisation, return-to-home, low-battery protection and encrypted two-way communication.
