Indian Navy drone with data logger (quadcopter)
Diagnosis and repair of an Indian Navy quadcopter and its data logger: GNSS connection, ground station link and time synchronisation.
The requirement
The problem this answered.
A quadcopter with a built-in electromagnetic data logger came in for repair. GNSS, the link to the ground station and time synchronisation were all unreliable, and each fault hid the others.
Constraints and operating environment: Naval trials use; existing airframe and logger, not a new build.

What we did.
We assessed and repaired a quadcopter with an electromagnetic data logger that records flight and environmental data. When it arrived, GNSS kept dropping out, the logger could not talk reliably to the ground control station, and its timestamps did not agree.
We analysed the system, reconfigured it and tested it until positioning was stable, the modules kept correct time, and logging and communication were reliable again. The aircraft went back into service collecting data.
